FAQ
Here you’ll find answers to some of my most commonly asked questions – hopefully, these will clear up any queries you might have. However, if you’re still in the dark after visiting this page, please don’t hesitate to send me an email info@ansumhounds.com
What does “On Location” mean?
On location means me, you and your gorgeous dog will all go out to a fantastic location of your choice. All my photoshoots take place in the great outdoors. Because it’s outdoors, the season you choose to book your shoot can very much dictate the mood created within them. If you like moody and dark images, then having your shoot in autumn or winter is a great idea. Alternatively, if you’re someone who likes bright and colourful images, then spring or summer will suit your taste best!
Where are you based?
I’m situated between St Austell and Truro but I am happy to travel to most places, though it does incur a travel fee if it’s outside 25 miles of St Austell,
What usually happens on a shoot?
I try to keep my photoshoots as relaxed as possible, as this usually makes for the best images of your dog/s. Essentially we will go for a lovely walk together and along the way, we’ll stop to get our images! Usually, I aim to get a combination of serious portrait images, more relaxed portraits and action shots of your dog at play. This means you’ll have a good mix of images to choose from after the shoot itself. Some things can help us you to bring with you along to the shoot to help in capturing the images such as treats/toys etc – but don’t worry I’ll give you information in the lead-up to your shoot to make sure you’re all prepared!
What if my dog can’t go off the lead?
No problem! With a little post-shoot magic I can edit out leads from your photos. However, if you know your dog needs to stay on lead, it can be useful to bring a long line with you if you’re wanting action photos (or you may be doing a lot of running!)
What if the weather is bad?
I can do photoshoots in in most weather – but sometimes heavy rain can make some pups to look a little miserable! I check the weather in the lead-up to the shoot and will get in contact with you if it looks like it may be poor, we can then rearrange the shoot for another date if you’d prefer to wait for better weather. We’ll likely also rearrange the photoshoot if the weather is too warm as this can be very risky for dogs, especially larger or brachycephalic breeds.
Do you edit the photos?
I do indeed! This is why sometimes you can wait up to 3 weeks for your images to be ready. Each photo can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 2+ hours to edit depending on how much needs to be done. I’ll make your pet look their best as well as often enhancing the mood of an image by changing certain features and of course, there is removal of distracting elements as well as leads/people if they appear in the image too.
How long will I wait for my photos?
Once we’ve finished the photoshoot I’ll spend the next few weeks editing your photos – the time this takes is usually dependant on how busy I am with shoots and other work. Editing can take around 2 weeks in general. From there, depending on your personal preference, I will then upload your shoot album to the website or Once you’ve seen your images you then choose which you’d like to have as your included prints or which you’d like to have made into your glorious wall art. The wait for your wall art/prints is dependent on which products you choose, this can be up to 3-4 weeks production time.
Can you photograph more than one dog at a time?
Of course! With multi-dog shoots, I’ll aim to get a combination of individual shots and group shots for you to choose from.
Do you photograph pets other than dogs?
No
What if I need to cancel my photoshoot?
Everyone has important stuff pop up from time to time! If you need to cancel your shoot for any reason, please try to let me know ASAP. During busy periods I will ask for a non-refundable deposit to ensure I can keep as many dates open as possible.
